There are numerous reasons why smoking is bad and should be stopped as early as possible. People should never start smoking in the first place, but anyone who has should be reminded of the many disadvantages smoking will no doubt cause. Following are ten good reasons:

1) Lung Cancer – is caused when toxins present in the smoke you inhale lead to cell mutation and sometimes malignant growths. A person who smokes is 23 times more inclined to get lung cancer than non-smokers.

2) Emhysema – is found often in men aged 55 and up who have been smoking their whole lives. The carcinogens that also cause lung cancer lessen the elasticity of the sacs in the lungs or the alveoli. This leads to improper breathing and eventually suffocation of the lungs.

2) Pneumonia & Bronchitis – affect both first and second-hand smokers. Particles in the smoke enter your lungs and irritate its lining, which causes your body to form excess mucous, responsible for these diseases.

4) Asthma – When a woman is pregnant and continues to smoke, newborn babies often have complications including asthma. Cigarette smoke will likely cause complications here and may trigger on and off asthma attacks in children.

5) Heart Disease – is caused when fatty acids are stored in excess in your arteries. If more arteries are constricted, you will be more prone to heart attacks and illnesses.

6) Discolored Teeth – Cigarettes often stain the enamel of the teeth and make them appear yellowish in color.

7) Damaged Taste Buds – The carcinogens present in cigarette smoke tend to numben the nerves on your tongue. Your sense of taste is inhibited.

8) Bad Breath – Because the toxins in cigarettes build up in the gums, teeth and cheeks, bad breath is often developed in smokers, no matter how much mouthwash, gum or other products they may use to conceal it.

9) Stained Fingers – are caused by the tar in cigarettes staining the tips of your fingers and usually appear in between the fingers that you use to hold your cigarettes.

10) Expenditures – $912.50 is a conservative figure to estimate the cost of cigarettes per day in a regular smoker. Each pack costs about $2.5 and may even be higher in some urban places.

So No to Smoking and throw away the cigarettes for good. Imagine all the money you will save by not buying expensive cigarettes everyday.
